Why Does My Business Only Get Customers From Referrals?

Referrals are great.
Honestly, they're probably some of the best customers you can get.
Someone already trusts you enough to put their name behind your business. The new customer comes in with a little trust built in, and you didn't have to spend a dime convincing them to call.
So what's the problem?
You can't control when referrals happen.
If you've ever wondered "why does my business only get customers from referrals," that's where I'd start.
You may have built a great reputation.
You may do better work than most of your competitors.
Your customers may love you.
But if referrals are doing all the heavy lifting, your next customer depends on somebody else talking about you.
That's a pretty unpredictable way to grow.
Referrals Don't Give You Much Control
Let's say you have a great month.
A few past customers recommend you. The phone rings. Your schedule fills up.
Everything feels good.
Then next month?
Nothing.
You didn't suddenly become worse at what you do.
Your customers didn't stop liking you.
There just weren't as many conversations happening with your name in them.
That's when business owners start scrambling.
Maybe you boost a Facebook post.
Maybe you throw some money at ads.
Maybe you start calling old leads.
Maybe you just hope next week is better.
Meanwhile, there's another group of potential customers you haven't even touched yet.
People who need what you do but don't know anybody who can recommend you.
What do they do?
They Google it.
And if you're not showing up when they search, they're probably going to become somebody else's customer.
Referrals Shouldn't Be Your Only Source of New Customers
This is where I think a lot of good local businesses leave money on the table.
They've spent years building a reputation in their community.
They've got happy customers.
They've got experience.
They've got proof that they're good at what they do.
But online?
The company barely exists.
So when somebody gets your name from a friend, you look great.
When somebody searches Google without already knowing your name, they find your competitors.
That's a problem.
Because you shouldn't have to wait for someone to recommend you before a potential customer knows you exist.
Google Can Put You in Front of People Who Have Never Heard of You
This is the opportunity.
Every day, people in your area search for services they need.
They're not necessarily looking for your business.
They're looking for a business that can solve their problem.
That's where I come in.
I help local businesses get found by more of those people.
I look at where you're currently showing up on Google, who's showing up ahead of you, and what's keeping you from getting in front of more potential customers.
Then I work on fixing it.
You don't have to learn local SEO.
You don't have to spend your evenings messing with your Google Business Profile.
You don't have to hope somebody recommends you tomorrow.
I'll handle the work of getting you found.
You keep doing the kind of work that made people want to refer you in the first place.
Referrals should keep coming.
I just don't want them to be the only reason your phone rings.
If your business is great at getting referrals but struggles to get found by people who don't already know you, let's talk.
I'll show you where you're missing opportunities and what I'd do about it.
